Who we are
Selsey Lifeboat Week is organised by volunteers to support the RNLI Selsey Lifeboat Station. For the personal information used by this website and the event team, Selsey Lifeboat Week is the data controller.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use the site, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, volunteering interests, event assignments and basic sign-in security records. Volunteer portal users do not have a password: a short-lived, hashed sign-in code is used and then expires.
Why we use it
We use this information to identify volunteers, send requested sign-in codes, organise shifts, contact people about their assignments, secure the portal and meet legal obligations. We do not use volunteer details for unrelated marketing.
Sharing and storage
Volunteer details are available only to authorised committee members. We do not sell them or share them with third parties for their own purposes. The website hosting and email-delivery systems process only what is necessary to operate the portal and send requested codes, or where disclosure is required by law.
How long we keep it
We keep volunteer contact and assignment information only while it is needed for volunteering and any applicable legal requirement. Sign-in codes expire after 10 minutes and old code records are routinely removed. Volunteer records are reviewed and can be corrected or deleted on request.
Your UK GDPR rights
You may ask for access to your information, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or an objection to its use. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. Contact selseylifeboatweek@gmail.com. We normally respond within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Cookies and security
The site uses essential cookies for sign-in, sessions and security. We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security. Please tell us promptly if you believe your account or personal information has been compromised.
